About Me

Writing for both marketing and editorial has been at the heart of my thirty-year career. Employed as a copywriter during the tech boom in Salt Lake City during the 1990s, I enjoyed working with many of the leading companies of the day who had started-up or established campuses in what became known as Silicone Valley East. While many of those technologies (and their IPOs) have since been eclipsed by bigger names and bigger tech stocks, being a part of this high-energy, rapid rise of an industry was educating and exciting.

In the 2000s, I was fortunate to move wholly onto the editorial side with a regional magazine publishing company in the southern part of Utah. I became Editor in Chief of that group and enjoyed being a part of developing four distinct magazines for the community; each one focusing on one of the four top sectors of the community’s economy: health care, golf tourism, lifestyle & luxury home development, and a burgeoning entrepreneurial tech economy.

Like so many of us in the publishing world during the late 2000s, I too had to shift my focus when the Great Recession came knocking. Many independent enterprises, most notably independent publications (and many large ones as well), eventually fell to the heavy weight that was survival back then. I was fortunate to be able to continue writing freelance for other publications while I moved back to the marketing/pr side of the game. Many companies at that time were striving to establish experienced, forward-facing teams to help them rebuild.

The 2020s have ushered me back to my happy place which is finding and telling stories of all the very cool people and projects out there that are forging tomorrow. So many of these stories are unknown not because they are not newsworthy, but simply because they haven’t come across the right person to tell them. That’s me.

I love to read. I love to learn. I love to write about people who give some piece of themselves to whatever need or whatever endeavor captures their soul. I look forward to matching these stories with the right publication to bring them to life.
