Editing and Editorial Development
l led four regional magazines (three published quarterly and one semi-annually) for the better part of a decade. In addition to driving content on all of the magazines, I managed editorial boards for each publication comprised of area professionals with expertise in each magazine's topic.
Golf St. George was dedicated to covering the 18 golf courses in southern Utah and nearby southern Nevada's golf mecca. Each edition featured an existing course or a course under development along with a PGA Pro Tip section helmed by a local PGA Pro, a course directory, and topical coverage.
Southern Utah Homeowners covered life and lifestyle in southern Utah's unique desert surroundings. These magazines explored improvements in xeriscaping, sustainable building materials and energy/water saving techniques and technologies. Community arts and leisure were also covered.
Southern Utah Health Care addressed health and healthy lifestyles as well as issues unique to the the area such as the "downwinder" effects of those exposed to fallout from nearby nuclear bomb testing done between 1951 and 1992.
Money Matters: Southern Utah's Business Magazine, eventually morphed into Business Matters Magazine to simplify the editorial mission of covering issues relevant to area business. We worked to foster themes and articles designed to cover and support area entrepreneurs and small business owners as well as to attract larger business and employment opportunities to the area.
